Company History
MegaZebra is one of Europe's leading social games companies. We take pride in crafting the best casual online games for social network communities. MegaZebra brings high-quality entertainment to millions of users around the globe.
History
MegaZebra was founded in late 2008, a pioneer of social gaming in Continental Europe. Since then, MegaZebra has grown rapidly from a self-financed venture, run by the four original founders to a 30-plus social games company headquartered in a roof-top loft in Munich city centre.
Blackjack was the first game we launched on Facebook in late 2008, a great success by early-day standards. Similar games followed in quick succession, that's how we got started on our growth path. Within a few weeks we had over 30,000 players, eventually catching the eye of Kizoo, the German web.de founders. Kizoo Technology Ventures' capital enabled us to expand our social games venture and move to our first proper office.
In March 2011 we raised more capital from London-based venture capital firm Doughty Hanson and private investor Markus Stolz enabling us to implement further growth plans.
Today, MegaZebra is one of Europe's leading social games developers and publishers on Facebook. Our games rank first or among the top in their categories. In fact, our games have been so popular since their launch in 2009 - they have been played over 2 billion times. Currently, we have some 19 games out there. Our team comes from more than a dozen different countries, reflecting the diversity of our player communities.
